Carnival Parade Float Marshalling

posted 18 Sep 2011 00:38 by SouthToowoombaApex Administrator
For many years, the South Toowoomba Apex Club has been Marshalling the end of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers Grand Floral Parade.  Once again on September 17, 2011, we came together to mark out Queen's Park, direct and park the floats and this year, even drive a float to Laurel Bank Park after the parade.

There are many challenges across the day in addition to the parade itself.  From seeking out medical attention from Queensland and St John's Ambulance for members of the public who act unwisely in the heat, to giving help and directions to the general public about the parade, the Carnival and Toowoomba in general.

This is a big Apex day in Toowoomba with the West Toowoomba Club providing a BBQ meal and some cool drinks for the parade bands, volunteers and emergency services at the end of the parade.

As in past years, we also welcomed back four past members of the Club - Joe, Ian, Stuart and Lyn - who came by and lent a hand to the newer Club members.  There was a great turnout from the Club members, which made things run really well.  Check out the slideshow of pictures from the day here.

Matthew from the Club has been coordinating the Park part of the Parade for a few years now, and attends the meetings with the Council, Chief Marshal, SES and the other volunteers and emergency service, and he sends out a big thanks to everyone who helped to make the end of the parade safe and fun for the participants and the public.
